Behind the Design

The Well renovates a basement bathroom into a calming, spa-inspired retreat.

Some spaces ask us to slow down.

The Well explores how a restrained material palette, thoughtful lighting, and carefully considered proportions can transform an ordinary basement bathroom into a place of quiet retreat. Rather than relying on excess, the design embraces simplicity - allowing texture, light, and carefully framed moments to shape the experience.

Light blue mosaic tile defines the primary hygiene areas, wrapping continuously from the floor to the feature wall to emphasize the shower and bathing experience. In contrast, dark slate tile and black-painted surfaces recede into the background, allowing the lighter elements to become the visual focus. Warm walnut cabinetry, teak accents, open wood shelving, soft wall sconces, and a round mirror introduce natural warmth that balances the cool palette, creating a serene environment that feels restorative, refined, and timeless.

More than a bathroom, The Well is a space for sanctuary, relaxation, and revitalization.
